If it is fresh peas, then it is relatively easy to cook, put the peas into the pot with the right amount of water, the water boils after 10-15 minutes can be cooked.

If it is dry peas, then it takes a longer time, before cooking the peas should be soaked for about 3-4 hours, so that the dry peas fully absorb the water before they are better cooked, usually need to cook for about 30-40 minutes, the cooking process should pay attention to constantly stir to prevent peas from sticking to the pot. Boil the dried peas until they have no hard core and are soft.

How long to cook split peas in pressure cooker?

The pressure cooker takes a relatively short time to cook peas, usually between 5 and 15 minutes, depending on the freshness and firmness of the peas.

If it is fresh peas, then the pressure cooker only needs to cook 5-8 minutes to cook, because the texture of fresh peas is tender, and the high temperature and pressure environment of the pressure cooker can quickly make the peas soft and ripe.

If it is frozen peas, then the cooking time is relatively long, it may take about 8-12 minutes, because the frozen peas need to be thawed before cooking, and the peas after thawing will cook slightly longer.

If dry peas, the pressure cooker needs to cook 15-20 minutes or so, and the dry peas are soaked 3-4 hours in advance before cooking, after the peas absorb water, the cooking time can be greatly shortened.

How do you keep pea soup from burning?

To prevent pea soup from burning, there are several tips to pay attention to.

First of all, choose the right pot to cook pea soup. If you are cooking with a stove, it is best to use a deeper pot and add more water to make the peas fully in contact with the water, so as to effectively prevent the peas from being burned.

Secondly, when cooking peas, you need to control the heat. At the beginning, you can boil it on high heat. After the water boils, turn to medium-low heat. Medium-low heat can make the peas be cooked slowly and can well prevent the peas from being burned.

Another skill is that when cooking pea soup, you can stir the peas from time to time. This can prevent the bottom of the peas from being burned. Burned peas really affect the taste and taste bitter.

Finally, when cooking peas, enough water must be added. The water must cover the peas by about 1 - 2 centimeters. Avoid adding too little water, which will cause the water to dry up and lead to the peas being burned.

Why is my split pea soup not getting soft?

The pea soup has not become soft, which may be caused by the following reasons:

First, it may be caused by insufficient cooking time; if you use fresh peas, it will take at least 15-20 minutes to cook them in ordinary pots. If the time is not enough, the peas will have a hard core.

Second, it may be caused by the variety. Some varieties of peas are hard and difficult to be softened. In this case, you can soak the peas for a few hours in advance to allow them to absorb enough water so that they can be easily softened when cooked.

Finally, it may be caused by the wrong cooking method. If the fire is too high, the water will evaporate quickly, causing the peas to dry up before they have time to soften; therefore, it is recommended to simmer over medium and low heat to allow the peas to soften slowly in sufficient water and at a suitable temperature.
