If you’re cooking onion chunks, due to their larger size and uneven heat distribution, you'll need to extend the cooking time. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (356°F), and cook 200–300 grams of onion chunks for about 15–20 minutes. The cooked onions will have a soft, sweet, and flavorful texture.
Tips:
Different air fryer brands and power levels will affect cooking times. A more powerful air fryer may reduce the cooking time by 2–3 minutes, while a less powerful one may require a longer cooking time. Make sure to monitor the onions to avoid burning.
How long to cook onions in air fryer at 400?
The air fryer temperature of 400°F (204°C) is quite high, and it’s not commonly used for cooking onions because it can easily burn them.
If you choose to cook onions at 400°F (204°C), adjust the time according to the size and shape of the onions. For onion rings, about 3–5 minutes should suffice.
For chunks of onion, cook them for 3–4 minutes, then flip them over and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes. The total cooking time will be 5–10 minutes. Keep a close eye on the onions during the process to avoid burning.
If you’re cooking a whole onion, the required time will be longer, around 15–20 minutes. Be sure to flip it midway to ensure even cooking. The result will be golden-brown and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Seasoning:
